Why sofas and upholstery need professional cleaning
Fabric and leather sofas absorb dust, skin oils, spills, and — in humid climates like Bengaluru's — odours from everyday use in a way that vacuuming alone can't fully address. Unlike hard surfaces, upholstery can't simply be wiped down; the wrong cleaning method (too much water, the wrong chemical on leather) can damage the fabric or frame permanently, which is why this is a specialist service rather than something to attempt with a household carpet cleaner.
What's included
Our sofa and upholstery cleaning covers shampooing and spot-treatment for both fabric and leather using equipment the crew brings with them — nothing is soaked, so there's no risk of water damage reaching the internal frame or cushioning. Visible stains are spot-treated directly; general shampooing lifts embedded dust and refreshes the fabric or leather surface overall.
How pricing works
This service is priced per seat rather than per sofa, since a 3-seater and a single armchair take genuinely different amounts of time and product. That means the total cost scales directly with how much seating you actually have cleaned — a 3-seater sofa plus two armchairs is priced as five seats, not as "two pieces of furniture."
Fabric vs leather
Fabric upholstery is shampooed and extracted to lift embedded dirt and treat stains at the fibre level. Leather is cleaned and conditioned using leather-safe products rather than fabric shampoo, since the wrong product on leather can dry it out or discolour it over time.
Drying time
Typical drying time is a few hours in normal weather — the crew uses extraction equipment that removes most of the moisture during cleaning rather than leaving the fabric saturated, but a sofa should still be left unused for the rest of the day where possible.
When to book
Sofa cleaning is commonly booked every four to six months for households with regular use, sooner if there are pets, young children, or a recent spill or stain. It pairs well with carpet shampooing and mattress cleaning if you're refreshing multiple fabric surfaces in the same visit.
What's not included
Structural repairs (torn fabric, broken frames, sagging cushions) aren't part of a cleaning visit. Heavily soiled or very old upholstery may need a second pass, which the crew will flag and discuss with you before proceeding.
Products and equipment used
Crews bring fabric-safe shampoo and extraction equipment for fabric upholstery, and separate leather-safe cleaning and conditioning products for leather sofas — the two are never treated with the same products, since what's safe on fabric can dry out or discolour leather. Extraction equipment removes most of the moisture during cleaning itself, rather than leaving the sofa to air-dry fully saturated.
How to prepare for your visit
Remove cushions, throws, and any loose items from the sofa before the crew arrives so they can access the full surface, including seams and crevices where dust and crumbs collect. Point out any specific stains and roughly when they happened, if known — this helps the crew choose the right spot-treatment approach. Plan for the sofa to be out of use for a few hours afterward while it finishes drying.
After the visit
Avoid sitting on or placing weight on the cleaned upholstery until it's fully dry, even though the extraction process removes most moisture during cleaning. If a stain doesn't fully lift on the first treatment (some older or set-in stains need more than one pass), mention it before the crew leaves.
Signs it's time to book
A sofa that looks visibly duller than when it was new, holds onto odours after airing the room out, or has stains that regular spot-cleaning hasn't shifted are all good indicators it's due for a proper shampoo rather than another round of surface wiping.
